Northeastern University men’s ice hockey team is set to make their return to the NCAA Friendship Four tournament 2019!! The Northeastern Huskies participated in the inaugural Friendship Four 2015. Head coach Jim Madigan marked the tournament as a turning point for the team during the season as they went on to win the Hockey East Champions.

Our trip to the Friendship Four proved to be a turning point in our season in 2015, culminating in our first Hockey East championship in nearly 30 years. To have the chance to return to a city and an arena that holds such fond memories for our program is very exciting. Our trip to Belfast was an experience that our players and staff will always cherish, and I would like to thank everyone involved in this process for inviting Northeastern back to the Friendship Four. We’re thrilled to have a second opportunity to return to the vibrant city of Belfast and compete for the Belpot

Colgate University men’s ice hockey team will make their return to the Friendship Four tournament!! After competing in the inaugural Friendship Four tournament 2015, the Colgate Raiders return for the fifth instalment of the NCAA tournament. Colgate will take on the Princeton Tiger’s on Friday 29th, November on their quest to claim the Belpot trophy.

We could not be more excited to be part of the 2019 Friendship Four! Everyone involved in the inaugural tournament and all of the people we met in Belfast was amazing. It was such a great educational experience for our student-athletes in a great hockey city.

The Colgate Raiders also have a connections with our home team the Belfast Giants! Colgate alumni Spiro Goulako’s and Darcy Murphy began their career’s with the Raiders before joining the Giants in the 2017-18 season and helping the Giants to their second Challenge Cup victory in program history!

The Princeton University men’s ice hockey team will make their debut at the NCAA Friendship Four 2019 tournament! The Princeton Tigers will take on The Colgate Raiders on Friday 29th November and take on either The New Hampshire Wildcats or The Northeastern Huskies on Saturday 30th November!

The Princeton University hockey team are members of the Intercollegiate Hockey League (ICHL) in which they compete against fellow Ivy League schools: Brown, Cornell, Dartmouth, Harvard, and Yale.

Ron Fogarty, head coach of the Princeton Tigers has commented on his excitement about his team’s participation in this year’s Friendship Four tournament.

We look forward to participating in the Friendship Four in 2019. It’s a great opportunity for us as a team to not only play internationally for the Belpot Cup but to be able to have a cultural experience in Belfast off the ice. It will be an adventure that the players and staff will remember forever.

Another Team with connections to the Belfast Giants, Princeton University alumni and 2012 Stanley Cup champion Kevin Westgarth began his career with the Princeton Tigers before joining the Giants for the 2014-15 season. Westgarth played a total of 36 games for the Giants and had 20 points!

The University of New Hampshire men’s ice hockey team will make their debut at the NCAA Friendship Four 2019 tournament! The New Hampshire Wildcats will take on The Northeastern Huskies in their first match in Belfast on November 29th.

For college teams, the Friendship Four tournament is much more than just a game! UNH Director of Athletics Marty Scarano commented on the invitation to participate in this year’s Friendship Four tournament

It’s a fantastic opportunity for our program and most importantly for the student-athletes. A lot of people have put enormous effort into making this tournament a once-in-a-lifetime experience and UNH is honored to be invited. We certainly look forward to 2019 and the ability to grow our program through our participation in the Friendship Four

The New Hampshire Wildcats will get to experience much more than just ice hockey during their visit, as they take part in visiting youth groups and exploring and experiencing all Belfast has to offer! Mike Souza, head coach of the New Hampshire Huskies gave this statement following the 2019 tournament announcement.

Our program is very excited to be playing in the 2019 Friendship Four. We look forward to competing for the Belpot Trophy against three great teams. This is also a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes to explore and learn more about the historic city of Belfast. We are very grateful to have this opportunity
